9 wrong ways of thinking

Below we will present a series of thoughts that can bring us many problems. Problems not only emotionally or behaviorally, but also with others and with the world around us. We will see what our most wrong thoughts are
Wrong thoughts are the main cause of many problems. If you think in the wrong way, more doors will be closed to you than if you learn to think in a rational and positive way. Therefore, today we will shed some light on the most common wrong ways of thinking and of which we are barely aware.
And, like a skill, thought can be adapted, molded, enlarged. That is, it is a flexible process, subject to learning. We can enjoy greater emotional balance, why not try? By modifying the way we think, we modify the way we feel.

Wrong ways of thinking that threaten your emotional health
1. Exaggerate things
This type of thinking is characterized by seeing a catastrophe in any situation. Things are overstated more than the account and the focus of the situations focuses exclusively on the negative side.

Given the above, it can be seen that it is a clear distortion of reality produced by our own thinking. The goal here is about being objective, and seeing the fact as it is.

In addition, the optimistic side is not seen at all, it is set aside, generating negative emotions. Ask yourself if the consequences of what happened to you are as serious as you suppose. The outside opinion of a few trustworthy people will make you see if you are really exaggerating or realistic.

2. Generalize in excess
It's about believing that everything is within the same pattern because once things were like that. All events that have been personally lived or seen around are copied and it is thought that the same will always happen.

For example, a woman who has had stormy love relationships. If you use this type of generalizing thought, you will believe that all men are equal, that none is worth it and that having a partner brings nothing but suffering. The reality is that there are all kinds of men, good and bad, but in general, things are not seen in an objective way.

Generalizing is always wrong

-Hermann Keyserling-

Many people also have the type of thinking: “All doctors are… Athletes are…. The beautiful people are… All of such a country are… .etc… ”Thinking like this is wrong. The world is so big, that there is everything in all professions, social status, countries, etc ...

3. Wrong ways of thinking: Polarization
It is a very rigid type of thinking. It is based on the creation of two totally opposite ideas. Either things are white or black, or all or nothing. There is no place for the middle ground. A person with this thinking scheme will be very little understanding, unable to put himself in the place of others.

They believe they are right in everything and there is an inability to see the solutions. For example, either I pass the subject or I will be unfortunate throughout my life, or this person corresponds to me or I will be alone forever. As if in life there was only one opportunity that either takes advantage or ends everything.

4. Tag
It's about pigeonhole yourself or someone and not believing in the changes. For example, something goes wrong and we think that as we fail in that, we are already a total failure in any facet. Someone is labeled as a "disaster" and is always left with that label. Although later prove otherwise, we will be anchored to the label that we attribute at the time.

5. Take things as personal
Believe that the negative things that happen around us are our fault. For example, someone looks at you with a face in a bad mood, and instead of thinking that something bad may have happened to you, or you may have had family problems, think that they look at us like that because we fall ill.

Feeling guilty for almost everything is one of the most harmful wrong ways of thinking. Well, you cannot be responsible for the emotions, thoughts, and actions of others

6. The "should", another wrong way of thinking
This type of wrong thinking is characterized by always focusing on the past, on what we could have done to make things work out better. The person focuses on blaming and lamenting because he "should" have done something different from what he did. This type of thinking paralyzes us and prevents us from finding new solutions.

Luckily or unfortunately, we cannot modify the past, but we can modify the way we interact with it and how we act in the present. The time to change things is now.

7. Naive optimism
It is an exaggerated positive thought. It is assumed that things will always work out, whatever you do. As a result, the person will not try very hard and the probability of things going well will be lower than if he were more realistic and saw that everything is achieved based on effort, work, and sacrifice.

Believing that everything will work out is one of the wrong ways of thinking that can confront us with a reality that we are not prepared to accept.

8. Negative Divination Conclusions
It's about assuming things without having evidence and evidence of reality. For example, a friend takes time to call and without knowing what happens, to believe that we have disappointed her and that she no longer wants to contact us, when in fact it could be that she had a different problem.

To eliminate this wrong way of thinking, we must get used to thinking with hypotheses instead of affirming arbitrary realities. For example, with thoughts like "it could be that my friend no longer wanted to contact me, but it could also be that she could not call me for any problem, as I do not know why I will not draw hasty conclusions."

Also, we find other examples, such as thinking that we are not going to find a partner or a good job, that we are not worth something or we will not achieve any goal, etc ... Conclusions are drawn from things that are not known, life goes around and is uncertain, so we should not try to guess the future.

9. Blame it
It is about finding a responsible and guilty of any problem or error. You need to find someone to put all the blame on him, the person feels better, since from a position of power he gets rid of being judged. It is a way to hide insecurities. The really important thing in the face of any problem is not to point to someone hard, but to look for solutions and ways to amend the mistakes.
Wrong ways of thinking vs. positive change
In summary, detecting the wrong ways of thinking can improve our emotional state. When you observe yourself to reflect and draw conclusions from the way you are reasoning, it is when you can begin to change. Without a doubt, if we manage to change the wrong thoughts and learn to reason in a healthier way, our quality of life will improve.
The truth is that we cannot predict whether a decision will be right until the consequences are seen. When the result of something has already been seen, it is very easy to think that we should have done something else, but until the result was seen it was not known.
